Handcrafted Whiskey / Bourbon Barrel Half Cabinet, made from an authentic oak Whiskey/Bourbon barrel. Because these cabinets are crafted using actual used Whiskey/Bourbon barrels, there will always be unique variations to the look and colors of the finished barrels. This gives them the sought after, rustic look that is unable to be duplicated. Each cabinet is hand sanded, stained (optional), and finished with a coat of polyurethane.
The cabinet is 35” tall and 24” wide at the widest part of the barrel. The top of the cabinet is roughly 21.5” Across the back. All whiskey barrels are unique in size, shape and patina(color), so the dimensions will vary slightly.
Whiskey / Bourbon is aged in oak barrels. Whiskey barrels are a vital part of the whiskey making process; as a matter of fact, many distillers consider barrels to be a part of their recipe. When whiskey is first distilled it is clear and not near as pleasant to drink as whiskey that has been aged in a barrel. Inside the barrel is where a whiskey’s flavor, color and mouth feel are developed. Whiskey gets its vanilla, caramel, coconut and wood flavors from the barrel.
Whiskey in the United States is typically aged in a barrel for 4 to 10 years. After the barrels are dumped, they are still usable, but American Whiskey Distilleries only use a whiskey barrel one time. So, what do the distilleries do with all of their used barrels? The distilleries sell their barrels to the rum, gin, tequila, beer and scotch distilleries.
